We understand how quickly one must act to secure a housing opportunity that arises. If you have applied for or have identified an eligible rental housing option, please call us at (307) 739-4500 so that we can help you assemble documents and move the First/Last/Deposit assistance process forward within necessary timelines. This assistance does not cover reimbursements; for example, reimbursement for a deposit that has already been paid.

  1. Submit a financial assistance request online and attach:
    • A copy of your lease or a statement of current rent
    • A copy of your new lease
    • Paystub(s) documenting earnings for all wage earners in the household in the last 60 days
    • Other income received in the last 60 days such as Social Security, pension or retirement, public assistance, child support, unemployment benefit statement and any other relevant income; and/or
    • W2s for all household wage earners for the past year; and/or
    • Tax return from the past year
  2. Meet in-person with a Client Services Coordinator: This will help with understanding the total costs to secure and move into the new rental and the timeframe needed to secure the housing opportunity. We will also discuss the financial viability of your household to afford the rent for the term of the lease by reviewing an income and expense sheet.

Requests are accepted on a rolling basis. We do our best to satisfy the timing of a deposit, but please note that once an application is complete, it may still take five to seven business days for a check to be issued. We can provide a letter of commitment of your assistance in advance of the check that you can share with your prospective landlord, if necessary. If you are currently looking for a new housing opportunity and know you may need help with the deposit, you must pre-apply for this program in advance of securing a unit.

The assistance may cover standard costs to secure a new rental — first and last month’s rent and security deposit. It may also cover assistance with rental application fees, move-in and other relocation costs. Applicants should be prepared to cover a portion of the total costs. We will gather information about your specific situation and need during the in-person meeting with a Client Services Coordinator.

The help I needed…

“This opportunity allowed me to have mental safety and also saved time from traveling back and forth from Idaho to Jackson. I am a professional that supports families in other ways, but I am unable to provide that support if I cannot take care of myself.” – Anna
