With grant funds fully expended, we have the opportunity to sustain this work with support from members of our community. We have an ongoing commitment to this initiative because of the multi-faceted impact it makes in our community. At the Linn Ranch we think it’s worth doing despite those challenges because we believe local food is better for people and the planet. But those difficulties do mean we have to charge more for our produce than many members of our community can afford. So we jumped at the chance to participate in this grant program and get our mixed greens, head lettuce and spinach onto the plates of folks who aren’t shopping at the farmer’s market. Getting paid in advance allowed us to plant beds specifically for One22, and gave us a much-needed revenue boost for our season.
