Food drives are an effective way to rally your friends, family and colleagues to make a collective impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. Whether it’s at your workplace, school or community organization, hosting a food drive allows you to directly contribute to our efforts in providing groceries to individuals and families in need. Hosting a food drive is as easy as one, two, three – so let’s get started! STEP ONESTEP TWOSTEP THREE 1Pick your food drive focus Check out the list of our “Most Needed Items” below and choose one item to focus on. For example – you could host a “Cereal” drive or a “Mac N’ Cheese” drive. By focusing on one item, it saves resources on our end and makes it possible for us to add your donations to our pantry immediately. 2Register your food drive Register your drive online. Once registered you will receive a media kit to help you make the most of your food drive. By registering your food drive, you help us plan for incoming items. Selecting a time for pick up ensures we have team members ready to assist you. 3Confirm your drop off date Once your registration is submitted, someone from our team will reach out to you to confirm the best date and time to drop off your donation. If you have any questions, please email us at jacksoncupboard@one22jh.org. Scheduling a time for drop off ensures we are open and have team members ready to take your items. WHAT ITEMS WILL YOU NOT ACCEPT? For the safety of the community members we serve, the Jackson Cupboard can only accept unopened, non-perishable food items that have not expired past one year. We cannot accept any products with severe damage (dented or rusted cans), or any homemade goods. We cannot accept any expired consumable baby products. While we do accept donations of perishable food, Hole Food Rescue can sometimes be better suited to receive and distribute these items. We do not accept clothing, shoes, furniture, or appliances. Clothing donations are accepted at Browse n’ Buy. Furniture and appliances are accepted at Teton Habitat ReStore. DO YOU ACCEPT ITEMS THAT ARE NOT FOOD? Yes! Please see our “Most Needed Items” list for household, personal hygiene, and baby items. These types of items can include anything from laundry detergent, dish soap, toothbrushes, razors and much more. DO YOU ACCEPT DONATIONS FOR PETS? Yes! We accept treats and also dry or wet cat and dog food. No pet toys or miscellaneous pet items, please. HOW DO I COORDINATE DELIVERY OF THE DONATIONS? Following an In-Person Drive, you’ll deliver collected items to the Jackson Cupboard. We’ll work with you to find a delivery date and time that works best. Please pre-sort the donations – we log and inventory each item, so sorting the donations before delivery is a huge help to us! WILL I RECEIVE A TAX RECEIPT? Yes! We will mail you a tax receipt for your records.
