Our goal is to help low- to moderate-income renters take advantage of financially healthier, safer or more secure rental opportunities. Submit Application Frequently Asked Questions WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR FIRST/LAST/DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE? Individuals and households who have lived or worked in Teton County, Wyoming, for at least one year can apply for first/last/deposit assistance once per a 12-month period. Because one first/last/deposit application per 12 months will be considered, applications must be for housing leases for a minimum of one year. Seasonal leases and leases that are for less than one year do not qualify for the program. Eligible individuals and households for first/last/deposit assistance are those who: Have lived or worked in Teton County, Wyoming for at least one year. Have a new lease for at least a 12-month period. Have a reasonable rent for their new lease, determined as 40% or less of a household’s gross income going towards rent. Have household income at or below 80% Median Family Income for county of residence. Median Family Income (MFI) is calculated and updated yearly by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and represents the middle income level for households in a geographical area. For example: in Teton County, Wyoming the yearly income limit for a family of four at 80% MFI is $113,200. We understand how quickly one must act to secure a housing opportunity that arises. If you have applied for or have identified an eligible rental housing option, please call us at (307) 739-4500 so that we can help you assemble documents and move the first/last/deposit assistance process forward within necessary timelines. This assistance does not make reimbursements (for example: a deposit that has already been made). To apply for first/last/deposit assistance, there are three steps you’ll need to complete: Fill out a first/last/deposit application online. If you need assistance with completing the application form, please call us at (307) 739-4500. Participate in a one-on-one meeting with a Client Services Coordinator. When we receive your application, a member of our Client Services team will contact you to schedule a meeting time.This meeting will help with understanding the total costs to secure and move into the new rental and the timeframe needed to secure the housing opportunity. We will also discuss the financial viability of your household to afford the rent for the term of the lease by reviewing an income and expense sheet. Prepare necessary documents. The Client Services Coordinator will outline the specifics of necessary documents. Generally, this will include: Proof of household income for the last 60 days A copy of your current lease or a statement of current rent A copy of your new lease Income and expense sheet WHEN IS THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION? We accept applications on a rolling basis for first/last/deposit assistance. We do our best to satisfy the timing of a deposit, but please note that once an application is complete, it may still take five to seven business days for a check to be issued. We can provide a letter of commitment of your assistance in advance of the check that you can share with your prospective landlord, if necessary. If you are currently looking for a new housing opportunity and know you may need help with the deposit, you must pre-apply for this program in advance of securing a unit. WHAT TYPES OF EXPENSES WILL THE FIRST/LAST/DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE SUPPORT? This assistance is designed to help with standard costs to secure a new rental — first and last month’s rent and security deposit. It may also provide support for rental application fees, move-in costs and other relocation expenses. Applicants should be prepared to contribute a portion of the total costs. We will gather information about your specific situation and needs during your one-on-one meeting with a Client Services Coordinator. WHAT DOES ONE22 CONSIDER IN MAKING FIRST/LAST/DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE DECISIONS? The goal of One22’s First/Last/Deposit program is to support individuals and households who have lived and/or worked in Teton County, Wyoming for at least a year in securing healthier, more stable and affordable housing. Decisions are generally made based on income and improvements in the housing situation. Some examples include: The opportunity provides stable and secure shelter for the community member and/or member of our workforce. The opportunity provides increased health and safety. For example, decreased housing overcrowding; improved heating and ventilation, food storage and cooking, sanitation and bathing facilities. The opportunity improves household finances and the cost burden of rent. Special consideration is given to single-parent households and people in need of individualized support.
